System Classification

UNSW system classification

At UNSW we use the System Classification Tool (zID required to access) to help in identifying the maximum level of Data Classification Standard to which a system can store and process data.

This tool is intended for use by System Owners / System Administrator/ Anyone who has in depth knowledge of the system including Data Executives or Data Owners.

The System Classification Tool enables us to ascertain what level of the Data Classification Standard to which the system can secure data. We classify the systems separately to the data so that where there is a mismatch between the two an appropriate risk management process can commence to mitigate the risk.

UNSW Systems that have been classified against the UNSW Data Handling Guidelines and Data Classification Standard are listed in the data governance Confluence (zID required for access).

For information about how to classify your system please download the template from the data governance Confluence.
